Week 8 Blog Assignment: 4/20/2011 Evan Keepfer
The wordle that I created is full of dark colors. There are also some lighter colors thrown in. I did this to represent the emotional changes I experienced on the day described in my narrative essay. I like that "felt", "loneliness", "emotions", and "anxious" are some of the more noticeable words in the wordle. These words are stronger words and it lets any viewers feel the emotions I felt on the day described in my narrative essay. I made the combination of words into more of a box because this makes the image feel stronger. Round shapes make people feel more bubbly and happy, and I didn't want viewers to feel those ways. 113 Another thing I like about my wordle picture is the fact that "smile" is in a very light yellow color, and "together" is in a lighter color. This makes me, and probably all of the viewers, feel more positive.

Week 6 Blog Assignment: 4/3/2011
What are you currently fascinated with?
I am currently fascinated with a band called Circa Survive. I discovered Circa Survive during the summer of 2010. My girlfriend, Alex, was very fond of them and she showed me a lot of their songs. I, at first, didn't like them very much, but the lead-singer's uniquely-melodic vocals and their technical guitar sounds quickly grasped my ears and heart. I couldn't stop listening. I listen to them on a daily basis. I feel like I hear new sounds every time I listen to them. Recently, my girlfriend and I saw them in concert. We had to stand for hours with our ears covered while a band called Foxy Shazam jumped around on stage. Though, it was slow and painful, it was worth it. Circa Survive sounded better live than they sound on their CDs, which is pretty amazing considering how good their recorded music is. Circa Survive amazes me with every new song that I hear, which is why I am currently fascinated with them.

Week 5 Blog Assignment: Evan Keepfer, March 27, 2011
I have written narrative essays before, but not many. This was also the first time writing a narrative essay in quite a while. I feel that I struggled greatly with the introduction, and the detailed guideline for writing thesis statements made my anxiety level rise. I was terrified of messing-up the thesis statement. The body of the essay was pretty easy for me, which is unusual. I have never written in such detail before, and I really enjoyed writing that part of the paper. Another part that I feel I struggled with was the conclusion. Former teachers of mine simply told me, along with my classmates, to restate the thesis and to elaborate for the conclusion. While writing the narrative essay, I forgot to include song lyrics. So, when I finished writing, I thought I was really finished. I had forgotten to even pick out a song. This assignment just turned out to be much harder for me than I thought it would be, but that was partially due to procrastination. The blog assignment says to discuss some of my goals going into writing the Rhetorical Analysis Essay. I've already written it, but I would say that my goals were to pre-write a lot, and to improve my understanding of introduction paragraphs and conclusion paragraphs.

First English Post
Hi. This is my first blog post. I'm trying extremely hard to find what I'm supposed to be writing about, but I'm having trouble finding it. I suppose I will just post this and keep looking for the subject.
