Week 5 Blog Assignment: Evan Keepfer, March 27, 2011

I have written narrative essays before, but not many. This was also the first time writing a narrative essay in quite a while. I feel that I struggled greatly with the introduction, and the detailed guideline for writing thesis statements made my anxiety level rise. I was terrified of messing-up the thesis statement. The body of the essay was pretty easy for me, which is unusual. I have never written in such detail before, and I really enjoyed writing that part of the paper. Another part that I feel I struggled with was the conclusion. Former teachers of mine simply told me, along with my classmates, to restate the thesis and to elaborate for the conclusion. While writing the narrative essay, I forgot to include song lyrics. So, when I finished writing, I thought I was really finished. I had forgotten to even pick out a song. This assignment just turned out to be much harder for me than I thought it would be, but that was partially due to procrastination. The blog assignment says to discuss some of my goals going into writing the Rhetorical Analysis Essay. I've already written it, but I would say that my goals were to pre-write a lot, and to improve my understanding of introduction paragraphs and conclusion paragraphs.
